Dear UCTABA Members

UCTABA HOME COMING AND ELECTIVE CONFERENCE – FINAL PROGRAM

The UCT Association of Black Alumni (UCTABA) in partnership with the University of Cape Town’s Development and Alumni Department HOMECOMING and ELECTIVE CONFERENCE is finally with us.

With the appointment of RPM as our Events Managing Partner, several iterations were conducted, resulting in the revitalisation of the entire program, with a sole goal to stage a resounding 2nd UCTABA HOMECOMING. As a result, dates have been reviewed, and the HOMECOMING program has been restructured as follows;

? JOHANNESBURG HOMECOMING ACTIVATION EVENT - Thu, 22 November 2018

? DURBAN HOMECOMING ACTIVATION EVENT - Thu, 29 November 2018

? HOMECOMING & ELECTIVE CONFERENCE - Thu, 21 March 2019 to Sunday 24 March 2019.

Yes, the event dates have been redefined and they are set as per above. This will be UCTABA 12th Year Anniversary, having been established in 2007.

As part of the drive towards a stable and prosperous movement, UCTABA will be driving yet another fund raising exercise, leading to the event. Our target is to raise another R 1MIILION, with a view to further boost our Bursary Fund from R 1 MILLION in the bank to above R 2 MILLION, which must be achieved between now and the HOMECOMING date in March 2019. So, we are calling upon you for support.

The ‘Activation Events’ in both Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal will be an extension of the Cape Town Activation Event held on the 4th September and will focus on strengthening both funding status and membership for UCTABA. Our ‘Theme’ for the EVENT is ‘Decolonisation of Education Towards Sustainable Economic Emancipation’.

For UCTABA to remain strong and relevant, a strong fund is a must. Coupled to this, are strong and active Chapters in all regions. Our areas of focus are still in areas with higher concentration. This is by no means aimed at discouraging efforts from other areas, where substantial progress has been made, but rather aimed at maximising the outcome through consolidation of effort.

Above this, UCTABA will use the opportunity to activate the ‘Nomination Process’ for new leadership. We plan to have UCTABA Nomination Committee (UNCO) established by no later than end of next week, and to use the Activation Events to get the nominations going.

Our Event Management Partners, RPM has been tasked to coordinate the entire program, starting with the Activation Events and all the way to the Main Event in March 2019.

Please keep these date in your PLACEHOLDERS and let’s have you there as we build up to yet another LANDMARK occasion for UCTABA. Invitations will follow soon for each event, giving the details for these occasions.

We thank you in advance and in anticipation.

Kind regards

Justice (Jazzman) Luthuli
